- (biochemistry, medicine, cardiology) A heterotrimeric regulatory protein complex found in the thin filaments of striated muscle fibers, including both skeletal and cardiac muscle, that controls calcium - mediated muscle contraction.
Etymology
From tropomyosin. Coined by the Japanese researcher Setsuro Ebashi in 1963. [1]
